Kids are fascinated by things growing, although they rarely notice that they've sprung a few inches in the last month, costing a fortune in new clothes. But seedlings… fascinating.Visit your local garden centre and pick up a packet of seeds that will offer quick reward. Something like cress (tip: you only need a single layer of seeds to make it interesting).
This is also a great way of testing whether your kids will be responsible enough to look after pets – if they can't look after cress seeds, you know not to buy the kitten they've been hounding you for (it will only add to your workload).
You Will Need:
- Plate
- Kitchen Roll
- Packet of Cress seeds
- Water
Instructions:
- Put several sheets of kitchen roll onto a plate
- Dampen the kitchen roll.
- Sprinkle the cress seeds over the kitchen roll so that you have a light covering.
- Make sure the kitchen roll is kept damp.
